Influenza is a serious viral infection that causes the death of many New Zealanders each year. Vaccination against seasonal influenza is available each year. Those most at risk of serious health complications from the flu are eligible for a free flu vaccine.

Flu Vaccine
Vaccinations are prioritised for Healthcare and Frontline workers, people over the age of 65, pregnant women and people with certain chronic medical conditions. Other members of the population 13 years plus may receive a flu vaccine from 28th April or as advised by Ministry of Health.
Usual wait period after the vacination is 20 minutes. Adolescents and adults who meet ALL the following criteria may not need to wait for 20 minutes post vaccination:
1. Do not have a history of severe allergic reactions
2. Have been assessed for any immediate post vaccination adverse reactions (5 minutes)
3. Are aware of when they need to and how to seek post-vaccination advice ( call healthline 0800 611 116 )
4. Will have another adolescent or adult with them for the first 20 minutes post-vaccination
5. Have the ability to contact emergency services if required.
If you meet these criteria you may only be required to stay for five minutes.
- Monday to Friday 11am to 12 noon, 4pm to 5pm
- Sunday 11am to 12 noon
